IN MEMORY

Tom N. Brickhouse

Tom Brickhouse, a member of the CHS class of 1989, died in 1995. Tom attended Burnley-Moran Elementary and Walker Middle School and was a skilled pianist and violinist and played in the city Youth Orchestra. He left CHS before graduating but soon after turning 18 received his GED. He had been living in New Orleans for several years when he was assaulted with a companion in a sidewalk robbery attempt and was killed by a handgun. Tom had a wonderful gentle spirit, a lively sense of humor, and a special way of seeing the world that touched and affected many who knew him. His family in Charlottesville includes his parents, Betsy and Bob Brickhouse; his grandmother Dorothy Brickhouse; his sister Anna Brickhouse and brother-in-law Bruce Holsinger, parents of Tom's nephews Campbell and Malcolm.

Tom was one of my best-friends and I will miss him dearly. We had a great time in middle school and at Homecoming. I loved his sense of humor. One time he scared the you know what..out of me when I was babysitting. I was about 15yrs of age then washing the dishes when I looked up and there's Tom peeking in at me through kitchen window. I screamed so loud I was sure I woke up my charges.

He was a character and I know he's laughing now.

Love you Tom.

Tom and I went to elementary to high school together. One thing I remember most about him was his musical talent. He was far beyond his years!
